Eugene Domingo is set to imprint her trademark of comedy in the rebranding of the Kapuso comedy anthology, Dear Uge.

Dear Uge began airing in 2016, capturing the hearts of loyal viewers every Sunday afternoon. Much like the versatility of its lead star Eugene, the show also flexes its adaptability in the changing landscape of TV production.

In an exclusive interview with GMANetwork.com, Eugene revealed that the Kapuso program has been rebranded to match and harmonize with the new normal. The most visible change in Dear Uge will be noticed in how she will present the stories to her audience.

Dear Uge goes online

“For me siyempre napaka-importante na lagi tayong relevant and updated sa ating format. Sabi ko nga, Dear Uge is the most flexible show on the planet today.

“Ang dami na naming adjustments na nagawa. From kuwentuwaan sa tindahan ni Dear Uge ay napunta tayo sa balitaktakan sa tindahan na kung saan parang may debate, and then napunta rin tayo sa tapusang kuwento, and then napunta rin tayo sa part 1 - part 2, at ngayon naman sa ating pag-resume ng fresh episodes ay naging online naman tayo.”

Eugene's brand of comedy

Aside from departing from Uge's variety store, Eugene will also share the spotlight with very unusual guests. According to the award-winning actress, this is where she can showcase her true brand of comedy.

“Ang nakaka-excite naman sa akin dito bilang artista ay meron akong resource person but let's not take our guest seriously, ha. Komeding-komedy tayo rito kasi dito naman… kung sa dating kuwentuwaan, I play different characters sa cameo roles. Dito naman sa ating bagong format ay I play different characters as the resource person na ini-interview ni Dear Uge.

“So nakakatuwa na siya and at the same time, nakaka-challenge din sa akin because as you know 'di ba, gustong-gusto ko naman talagang gumanap nung mga parang characters na ganyan, like si Kimmy Dora, dalawang pagkatao niya. So might as well ganun din 'yung paglalaro na ginagawa ko sa Dear Uge ngayon. Pero at the end of the show of course ay lagi namang may binibigay na konting aral si Dear Uge based on the story that they… So it's comedy still and at the same time, maganda pa rin 'yung aral na nakukuha at may aral din namang makukuha especially these days.”

Improved storylines

Despite the changes in the upcoming fresh episodes of Dear Uge, Eugene promised that the show will continue presenting stories that are out of this world, didactic, and entertaining all at the same time.

“Marami tayong kuwentong nakakatuwa at first time din nating mapapanood 'yung ganung kuwento sa TV. Like nakawan ng panty, ganyan (laughs). Medyo out of this world 'yung mga topic namin pero nakakatawa siya at saka parang nangyayari naman siya sa totoong buhay. Tapos siyempre we feature our very talented, beautiful talents in GMA, and hopefully in June we will surprise you with talents na, artista na 'surprise!' Hindi pa ako pwede magsalita eh.

“But definitely, the stories are funnier and the format is funnier. Lahat naman nito gusto namin dahil nakaka-entertain. 'Yun talaga 'yung gusto namin, matuwa ang loyal viewers at ma-entertain. We're still here to make you all very happy every Sunday.”
