Despite her "struggles," Ashley Ortega said it's fulfilling to play the role of Ponggay on 'Hearts on Ice.'
Sparkle artist Ashley Ortega is finally living her dream of starring in a series about figure skating on Hearts on Ice.
But it's not all fun as Ashley showed the "battle scars" she got while playing the role of Ponggay in the GMA Telebabad series.
She wrote on her Instagram post, “It's been 4 months of taping Hearts on Ice and all I can say is how fulfilling it is to go home from work despite all the sleepless nights, cuts, falls, bruises, and physical exhaustion.
"Sharing you some bts photos/vids of Ponggay's struggles, battle scars and gorgeous legs 😝"
In the video she posted, Ashley showed scene where she fell after doing a trick, she slid on ice after falling, as well as pictures of her bruised back and arms, and wounded knees.
She clarified, however, "Btw, the production of HOI takes good care of me and everyone on set. All my bruises, falls & cuts are accidents and it's normal in our sport."
In a previous interview on the Updated with Nelson Canlas podcast, admitted that playing the role of a figure skater in a series is “the best of both worlds” for her despite feeling the pressure of her first project.
“Especially this is my first big project talagang yung pressure rin kakaiba, so lahat ng mga tao mataas ang expectations sa akin. The pressure is there, pero ayoko masyadong itatak sa utak ko na 'What if I did something wrong,' I just want to enjoy the whole process,” she said.
She added, “Medyo kinakabahan lang talaga 'cause it's something really big and special for me and I'm doing it at the same time. Launching tapos figure skating but at the same time nakaka-excite siya.”
She even dedicated her performance in the series to her parents who worked hard to support her and her siblings in their sports, with her younger sister also a professional figure skater while her brother is a hockey player.
“They are the reason why I'm a figure skater. In-enroll nila ako when I was a kid. Nung natuto ako maglakad, sinalang na ako agad sa yelo. This is my way of giving back to them na nagbunga 'yung hirap nila, 'yung ginastos nila sa akin,” she said.
