“Wala na kasing war.”
GMA Network executive Atty. Annette Gozon-Valdes proudly declared during her interview with Paolo Contis in his online show Just In that the network war between broadcast giants GMA-7 and ABS-CBN is all water under the bridge now.
It was recently announced that GMA-7, ABS-CBN Entertainment, and VIU will be working together to produce a series titled “Unbreak My Heart”- a historic partnership between two former rivals.
Atty. Gozon-Valdes, who serves as the Senior Vice President for Programming, Talent Management, Worldwide, and Support Group, and President of GMA Films, even revealed to Paolo that the idea to collaborate with the Kapamilya came from her father, GMA Network Chairman, and CEO Atty. Felipe L. Gozon.
“Well actually idea ng dad ko, yes.”, Atty. Annette said, “Gustung-gusto ko nakikipag-collaborate with all producers, kaya nga pati from before pa lagi kami may partnership with Regal, Viva lahat ng producers, actually.
“So, ngayon may opportunity na to work with someone we've never worked before na siyempre we respect so much also in this industry, so, exciting na exciting! 'Tapos, ngayon pagkasama namin 'yung mga tao sa ABS[CBN], parang ano kami barkada. We're working together to produce something good for the viewers.”
The Kapuso top brass also stressed the importance of this history-making collaboration, since we are in an era where we are also competing with other entertainment content providers abroad.
She stated, “Sabi ko nga, ang idea ngayon, ang dami na natin kalaban all over the world, dapat one Philippines 'di ba? ”
Ms. Annette was brimming with pride too when she talked about the highly-anticipated live-action series Voltes V: Legacy, which according to her was a decade in the making.
The Pinoy-adaptation of the beloved anime series stars Miguel Tanfelix, Ysabel Ortega, Radson Flores, Matt Lozano, and Raphael Landicho.
She recalled, “Ang tagal na nitong Voltes V: Legacy in the making, I think ten years ago pa namin tinatrabaho na magawa itong live action.
“Ang tagal-tagal na niyan, 'tapos hindi mabigyan ng green light kasi sobrang mahirap 'yung CGI, siguro mga twelve years ago, ten years ago nakita n'yo naman 'yung mega trailer 'di ba?
When the mega trailer of Voltes V: Legacy was released on the first day of 2023, it garnered millions of views online.
“So parang ngayong 'yung timing na tama. Ito yata 'yung most expensive show ng GMA so far, pero nakita n'yo naman na ang ganda 'di ba? So yan 'yung pinaka-exciting for me this year.”
Paolo Contis then asked Atty. Gozon-Valdes about the other big projects coming after Voltes V.
She mentioned that Sang'gre and the sequel of Lolong starring Ruru Madrid are also in the pipeline.
“May iniisip din for Alden [Richards] na big project and we're planning on Daimos, sana. And may isa pang Voltes [V], basta tuloy-tuloy na 'yan.” Atty. Annette said.
