"For the first time ever in my 12-year career, hindi ako nag-foundation. Kinapalan ko 'yung mukha ko, nilakasan ko 'yung loob ko," 'Love Of My Life' star Carla Abellana said in her YouTube vlog.

Carla Abellana just uploaded one of the most requested videos on her YouTube channel showing her makeup routine for her character Adelle in the hit GMA primetime series Love Of My Life.

Her character, Adelle, is described as a kind-hearted simple woman. Hence, she opted for a makeup look that matches her character's image--fresh and glowing--while using minimal makeup products.

Since the series was mostly shot at the time of pandemic, Carla did her makeup herself, while on set.

She decided to not complicate her makeup routine because they had to wear a face mask at all times, unless they have to be in a scene.

Before and during the "new normal" taping, Carla made an effort to take care of her skin so that it would look good on TV despite having simple makeup. She also considered how the show uses high-definition cameras and a great amount of lighting.

She shared, "For the first time ever in my 12-year career, hindi ako nag-foundation. Kinapalan ko 'yung mukha ko, nilakasan ko 'yung loob ko.

"Sabi ko, 'sige nga try natin. Aalagaan ko 'yung skin ko months before [the] lock-in taping' para by the time we start, 'yung texture, okay 'yung tone. Bright 'yung skin, smooth, and all that para no need for foundation."

Step 1: Prep skin with makeup spray

Carla doesn't use any primer for her makeup routine, instead she uses a prep spray to even out and smoothen her skin before applying makeup.

Step 2: Brighten face using a concealer

Since some face masks may be too abrasive, Carla decided to wear a thin layer of makeup for her character. For her base, she applies two to three layers of brightening concealer on her under eye area and blends it using her finger.

Step 3: Set concealer

Carla proceeds with setting her concealer with mineralized face powder, which is a one shade lighter than her skin tone, so it doesn't crease or oxidize over time.

Step 4: Apply powder foundation

For the rest of her face, Carla applies powder foundation to set her makeup.

Step 5: Use light blush on for a diffused glow

A light blush on powder is used for the cheeks to add sheen to the face but for Carla, it's a good over-all face powder. Having said that, she doesn't want her face to look as red as a tomato so she uses a soft pink blush for "a diffused glow."

Step 6: Contour face

Carla contours her cheeks, jawline, and forehead with a darker shade of powder foundation to add dimension to her face.

Step: 7: Add depth to eyelids

To add depth to her eyelids, Carla doesn't put on multiple eyeshadow shades. Instead, she applies the same powder foundation she uses to contour her face.

Step. 8: Re-do step 6

Contouring her face for the second time is an important step in Carla's makeup routine. Doubling the layer of the contour defines the shape of her face since there's a tendency for the makeup to wash out on-cam because of the amount of lighting.

Step 9: Moisturize and add color to the lips

Carla uses two lip balms: the first one is clear intended to add moisture to the lips, while the other one is tinted since she doesn't use lipstick for Adelle.

Step 10: Fill in the gaps in the eyebrows

Carla has a simple eyebrow routine for Adelle. She just fills in the gaps in her eyebrows using an eyebrow pencil to define its shape then sets it by using a clear eyebrow mascara.

Step 11: Add volume to lashes

Carla ditches the curler and proceeds in applying two to three layers of waterproof mascara for a subtle lift of lashes.

Step 12: Highlight inner corner of the eyes

Carla brightens her eyes by using a nose powder which she dabs on the inner corner of her eyes. It makes a lot of difference because a bit of sparkle makes the eyes more dramatic.

Step 13: Add a flush of color to the cheeks

To top off her makeup routine, Carla applies blush on the apples of her cheeks for an instant radiant glow.
