GMA Network's hit historical-fantasy series, Maria Clara at Ibarra, continues to capture the hearts of Filipinos all over the world.
GMA Pinoy TV held a special watch party of the trending series last December 3 at the Philippine Consulate General (PCG) in San Francisco's Sentro Rizal, which is considered as the hub of Filipino culture and arts in the area.
The San Francisco PCG in a statement explained that the screening was part of the Consulate's commemoration of the 126th anniversary of Jose Rizal's martyrdom.
Maria Clara at Ibarra is based on the national hero's novel, Noli Me Tángere.
The Consulate said the watch party was graced virtually by the show's stars, Barbie Forteza, Dennis Trillo, Julie Anne San Jose, Rocco Nacino, and Juancho Trivino.
The series's creative consultant, Suzette Doctolero, and head writer, J-mee Katanyag, also virtually joined the screening.
According to Vice Consul Adrian Baccay, the special watch party “allowed Filipinos and Filipino-Americans, especially those who were born and raised in the U.S., to reconnect to the history, culture and heritage of their homeland.”
