Ube is arguably the most popular food during the lockdown period, and Kapuso actress Ashley Ortega is among the many people who tried her hand at making an ube-flavored dish. During quarantine, Ashley learned how to make kakanins with her steamer and one of them is the ube kutsinta.

According to Ashley, she turned to making kakanins and selling them online as her source of income while she didn't have taping yet during the lockdown. She said she also learned how to make sapin-sapin and puto, all of which can be easily created with a steamer.

If you want to try making the unique Ube Kutsinta of Ashley Ortega, below are the five ingredients and five easy steps.

Ingredients:
cassava powder
flour
brown sugar
¾ ube condensed milk
water

Procedure:
1. Mix all ingredients in a bowl of water.
2. Mix thoroughly.
3. Pour mixture into a muffin tray.
4. Steam for 30 minutes.
5. Use a toothpick and spoon to remove the ube kutsinta from the tray.

Ashley says you should use brown sugar instead of the white one, so that your kutsinta will not taste like palitaw. Also, make sure to line the muffin tray with oil, so that the ube kutsinta will not stick to the tray.
