Jillian Ward on 24 Oras

'My Ilonggo Girl' star Jillian Ward reveals some of her struggles growing up in the showbiz industry.

Sparkle actress, singer, and endorser Jillian Ward was candid enough to share in her exclusive chat with 24 Oras about her struggle with mental health.

In her sit-down chat with Nelson Canlas for GMA Integrated News Interviews, the Star of the New Gen revealed that she considered quitting show business because of her anxiety.

Nelson then asked Jillian if she enjoys being in the limelight, “Do you enjoy the attention kasi, since five lahat ng puntahan mo - mall, palengke, restaurant. Lahat kilala ka, lahat gusto buhatin ka. Lahat gusto magpa-picture sa'yo?”

The My Ilonggo Girl star stated that she doesn't mind the attention, but being a celebrity has some drawbacks.

Jill explained, “Yes po na-enjoy ko siya 'pag meron nagpa-picture sobrang saya nila. But sometimes, meron po isang incident na wake po ng grandfather ko, tapos umiiyak. Tapos may gusto makipag-selfie ganun.

“Super bata pa po ako nun mga 13, e, growing up hindi po ako marunong mag say ng 'no.' So imagine mo po, nandun 'yung kabaong ng lolo ko umiiyak ako, tapos nagpapa-selfie. So parang ako, sige po,” she added.

Jillian, who will turn 20 next month, then stressed the importance of being able to say “no.”

“I grew up na hindi po ako marunong mag-'no.' So somehow 'yun po 'yung natutunan ko ngayon, kailangan mo rin ng boundaries to protect your emotions, mental health.”

Catch Jillian Ward portray Tata and Venice in the highly anticipated GMA Prime rom-com series My Ilonggo Girl, airing on January 13, Monday to Thursday at 9:35 p.m.
