Pepito Manaloto

Here are seven reasons why you should not miss the grand pilot episode of 'Pepito Manaloto: Ang Unang Kuwento' this Saturday night!

Mark your calendars mga Kapuso for the big TV event happening on July 17!

This coming Saturday, the Philippine broadcast giant GMA Network will offer televiewers the premiere of the much-awaited Pepito Manaloto: Ang Unang Kuwento.

A prequel to the award-winning sitcom of GMA-7, the show will give us a peek into the life of our beloved Pepito, now played by Sef Cadayona and Elsa, portrayed by Mikee Quintos during their teenage years.

A lot has been written about the prequel of Pepito Manaloto and we rounded up a few more reasons why you should be tuning in every Saturday night and never miss out on the story of Pepito and Elsa.

1. Team up of Sef Cadayona and Mikee Quintos

Loyal fans of Pepito Manaloto shouldn't fret, because the award-winning comedian Sef Cadayona and actress-singer Mikee Quintos are the perfect choices to portray the young Pepito and Elsa.

These two have unique on-screen chemistry similar to our favorite tandem of Michael V. and Manilyn Reynes.

2. Life in Caniogan

Curious what was it like for Pepito and Elsa to live in the '80s in their old place in Caniogan, Bulacan?

Televiewers will get to know more about our lead characters in Pepito Manaloto and how their values were shaped by living a simple life.

We will be able to figure out why Patrick (Kokoy de Santos) loves hotdogs and why Mang Benny (Archie Alemania) and Nanay/Aling Rosa (Gladys Reyes) are mortal enemies, too.

3. Pokwang's first Kapuso sitcom

After signing her contract last June 18, we will get to see Pokwang in her first-ever Kapuso sitcom--- laughing and acting alongside the best-of-the-best comedians in the country.

Catch her every Saturday night as Aling Tarsing and find out her connection to Pitoy's family.

4. Gladys Reyes returns to TV since the pandemic started in March 2020

In addition, we will get to see the versatility of Gladys Reyes in Pepito Manaloto: Ang Unang Kuwento. We know that Gladys is a very effective kontrabida, but do you know that she's a brilliant comedienne as well?

In her Instagram post, Gladys couldn't hide her excitement to return to TV again. She posted, “Since lockdown of March 2020 and even until tapings resumed in June 2020, I've been hesitant to accept tv projects because I wasn't comfortable doing swabs and lock-ins.

“I prayed that, hopefully I would be offered a sitcom, that would make me go back to work and as a warm-up before I do another serye again.

“Finally, it's here, my answered prayer, my birthday gift!”

5. Brilliant cast behind the sitcom

GMA Entertainment Group was meticulous in picking the cast, who will be part of this highly-anticipated prequel--- brilliant comedians like Archie Alemania and Denise Barbacena, who are mainstays of the award-winning gag show Bubble Gang are part of Pepito Manaloto: Unang Kuwento.

Also, Kokoy de Santos will surprise everyone with his comedic timing, while Kristoffer Martin, Edgar Allan Guzman, Jay Arcilla, Angel Guardian will surely add color to your Saturday nights.

6. Michael V. is still calling the shots

Of course, Pepito Manaloto will not be the same without the multi-talented performer Michael V.

Direk Bitoy will still play a huge part in the sitcom since he's the creative director of Pepito Manaloto: Ang Unang Kuwento.

What's more, his leading lady Manilyn Reynes will also be joining him every Saturday night as a narrator of the show.

7. Under the helm of respected TV director Bert de Leon

Ardent fans of Pepito Manaloto shouldn't be worried that the prequel will be entirely different from the original sitcom, especially since its long-time director Bert de Leon is still part of the hard-working crew of the show.

He will still be there to make sure that the soul of the sitcom is intact andwill be adding more color to the viewing experience of the loyal fans who have been watching Pepito Manaloto for over a decade.
