Asia's Romantic Balladeer Christian Bautista has experienced both sides of a singing competition.
He is currently serving as one of the judges for original Filipino singing competition The Clash.
He also began his career by joining and finishing fourth place in a singing competition back in 2003.
Because of this, Christian says he can sympathize with contest hopefuls.
"It is not easy. A stranger telling me that someone else deserves the stage more than me, that the level I have to reach was not attained during my performance today.
"I can assume that some of the contestants may feel this way after we let them go from the singing contest I currently am part of as a judge," he wrote on Instagram with a photo of him sitting on the judging panel of The Clash.
At the same time, he also understands how hard it is to be a judge in such competitions.
"I find it hard to bring upon a decision to alter a course of someone's life. It also is not easy. I have been there myself once. In their shoes," he said.
Christian also hopes that those who have not been successful can pick themselves up and try again.
"To feel the loss, it is ok to feel this way. But hopefully only for a time. I hope that after a while, I may hear them say to themselves again, as I have said to myself, 'It does not feel good to lose, to be beaten. But I will learn from this. I will be better. I will try again. I will believe that the purpose of my life will prevail.' With faith, hope, passion, persistence and drive. You will find your way again," he ends.
Aside from Christian, Asia's Nightingale Lani Misalucha and Philippine Comedy Concert Queen Aiai delas Alas also serve as judges for The Clash.
