This story is all about how tragedy can change the lives of four people.  Lyra's life takes an unexpected turn when tragedy hits her family, leaving Lyra without a husband and a son. Bernard, a single father and a widower, begins to understand the meaning of life when he meets Lyra. Rebecca, a childhood friend of Lyra's, is a bipolar who becomes a drug addict after losing her son. And then there's Jerome, a lawyer who has always loved Lyra even before she married her late husband.
