Many would probably remember Marco ‘Mcoy’ Fundales as the lead vocalist of the Filipino pop-rock band Orange and Lemons that made its debut in 1999.
Today, Mcoy is no longer a member of the group but is still very much active in the entertainment industry as part of the creative team of 'Pepito Manaloto.' He works closely with Kapuso comedy genius Michael V or Bitoy to his showbiz friends.
“Mentor ko sa pagsusulat si Kuya Bitoy," shares Mcoy in an exclusive interview with GMANetwork.com. He adds, "Marami akong natutunan sa kaniya! Isa siya sa most hardworking na tao na nakilala ko. Hindi ko alam kung natutulog pa si Kuya Bitoy sa dami ng ginagawa niya.”

Mcoy has been writing for 'Pepito Manaloto' for four years now. One of his most unforgettable scripts was the breakup between characters of the show Chito and Nikki played by Jake Vargas and Julie Anne San Jose.
The episode aired in November 2018 and created so much buzz online that it became a trending topic among netizens.
Back to his roots
This 2019, Mcoy went back to making beautiful music, albeit only for one song. He shared his expertise with Michael V in writing the movie theme song for 'Family History' titled "Ba't Ganon?"
"Dito ko nakita ‘yung process na sumulat si Kuya Bitoy ng kanta tapos ‘yung lyrics talagang in-incorporate niya sa script, which is not very easy to do," relates Mcoy.

“The song is about someone who is trying to stay strong, pero ang dami niyang tanong. ‘Yun nga ‘yung universal question ‘Ba’t Gano’n?’
Mcoy concludes, “He is searching for the answer, he is trying to stay strong, pero in the end, alam niya na pagdating sa pag-ibig, lahat tayo mahina.”
'Family History' is a joint project of GMA Pictures and Mic Test Entertainment, a production company of Michael V and his wife Carol Bunagan.
