Gabbi Garcia proves that even in recreational activities, we can contribute in healing mother earth. On March 18, Gabbi drove all the way to Mabini, Batangas to help preserve marine life.

Gabbi said that she inherited her love for diving through her dad.

“My dad used to dive all the time. My dad and his barkada, mga 80's palang, 90's palang nagda-dive na talaga sila. So ayun, sumasama sama ako sa kanila. I started with snorkeling, swimming swimming sa beach. Then, eventually, na-curious na rin ako paano mag-dive. Parang ang saya-saya, so nag-enroll ako sa diving school and then nag-exams ako para ma-qualify ako to get my license. Doon na nag-start.”

Gabbi revealed that she got her license for diving at a young age when she enrolled in PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructor).

“I got mine when I was in grade six. Grade school pa lang nakakuha na ako ng license,” she said.

Her trip to Batangas is for Scubasurero, an activity aimed to heal the marine life through diving. She shared, “not everyone has the opportunity to go down underwater. So ako yung isa sa mga lucky kids na nakaka-dive. In my own little way, 'pag nagda-dive ako, naglilinis na rin kami. Kasi hindi naman lahat ng tao nakakapunta doon sa ilalim e. So kami lang nakaka-reach sa point na yun. Siguro 'yun na rin tulong ko sa mother earth.”

When the young actress was asked if she felt scared of diving after a year of not having any interaction with marine life, she answered, “I'm more of excited kasi na-miss ko mag-dive.”

After 45 minutes of exploring a portion of Mabini, Batangas, Gabbi was elated when she found a clear spot. For the young actress, this means that a lot of people are being responsible in giving care to the underwater creatures.

Another highlight during her 60-feet dive was when Gabbi was able to get a close encounter with a hawk beak turtle.
