Roi Vinzon on his son Anton's first lead role: 'Mas magaling ka sa akin'

June 30, 2026

The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, as the saying goes. Sparkle artist Anton Vinzon, son of veteran actor Roi Vinzon, is now starring in his first solo lead teleserye — the GMA Afternoon Prime sports-action drama series ‘Kamao.’

Anton plays Makmak, an aspiring boxing champion determined to achieve his dreams while navigating challenges in life and love. Sharing the screen with him is none other than his father, Roi, who plays the role of his lolo in the series.

There was a time kasi gusto niya talagang mag-artista. ‘Gusto mo ba mag-artista?’ Kahit hindi ko siya masyadong tinuruan. To tell you the truth, no. Hindi ko siya masyadong tinuruan.”

Roi shared that he wanted Anton to learn and grow on his own as he explored the craft of acting.

Now that they are working together, Roi has nothing but praise for the actor his son has become.

Anton said his father has always been supportive, especially during the start with Sparkle Teens.

Talagang 1K a day siya. I'm just really grateful and happy.”

If there is one thing Roi wants to impart to his son, it is the importance of staying humble despite fame and success.

For Anton, those words of wisdom are lessons he will always take to his heart.

Pagdating sa showbiz, janitor man ’yan o kahit sino man, pantay-pantay lahat.”

Roi, the veteran actor that he is, will always be a proud father to Anton.

The father-and-son tandem also expressed their gratitude to Global Pinoys for their continued support.

“Hello to our Global Pinoys, mga taga-abroad.

“We are proud of you. Hero po kayo sa aming puso. Sana panoorin ninyo po ang ‘Kamao,’” said Roi.
