Arellano eyes Final Four berth vs streaking EAC; San Sebastian, San Beda clash | NCAA Philippines

Arellano University will be seeking no less than a win when it clashes with streaking Emilio Aguinaldo College on Tuesday in the NCAA Season 97 women's volleyball tournament.

Game time is at 2:30 p.m. at the Paco Arena in Manila with Arellano hoping to book a Final Four seat while San Sebastian College-Recoletos takes on San Beda University at 12 p.m. in bid to strengthen its playoff bid.

Arellano is toting an impressive four-game winning streak for a 6-1 slate but head coach Obet Javier warned his wards to come out prepared, physically and mentally, when they see action opposite the Lady Generals.

EAC, for its part, is also on a roll, winning both of its last two games against Lyceum of the Philippines University and Colegio de San Juan de Letran to remain very much in contention.

Javier said they can't take EAC lightly, especially with the likes of Cathrine Almazan and Krizzia Reyes orchestrating Lady Generals' offense.

"Kahit na 'yung EAC ay nasa ilalim syempre kailangan nating pakitaan. Hindi kami pwedeng mag-relax, hindi pwedeng i-underestimate 'yung kalaban dahil nagpa-practice 'yan," said Javier on Saturdya after their 25-12, 25-13, 25-23 sweep of Perpetual.

"Siguro paghandaan namin muna 'yung EAC tapos tsaka namin paghandaan 'yung Benilde."

Meanwhile, opening the double-header are San Sebastian and San Beda, who are on the opposite sides of the team standings.

The Lady Stags recently had its three-game winning run snapped when they fell to league leader College of Saint Benilde last Friday to drop to 4-2.

San Sebastian, though, kept hold of the third spot and a win today will boost its chances of catching the Final Four bus.

San Beda, on the other hand, is currently sitting at seventh place with a 2-4 win-loss card but their previous back-to-back victories will be pivotal as they collide with powerhouse San Sebastian.
