"It wasn't until we came to the US and I saw a mattress, like sleeping on a mattress. In the Philippines it's common to slip on a banig or things like that. And so it wasn't until I came to the US and got exposure to a house that has a bathroom in it, easy access to running water," sabi ni Cielo.
"It symbolizes the beginning of a physician's journey. You typically get it right before you start your first year of medical school. It's a really special ceremony," anang dalaga.
such a special moment to be coated by my big brother for my @MSUMD white coat ceremony — we’ve come a long way from living in a kubo (shack) in the Philippines #AmericanDream pic.twitter.com/v8GwDCX0FX— Maria Cielito (Cielo) Robles (@mcierobles) August 21, 2022
"I just thought it would be such a special moment for us to share because we have been on this journey together. I was by his side while he was applying to PA schools. And then we were living together when he was finishing a PA school and I was applying and interviewing for medical school," sabi ni Cielo.
"This dream of working in a medical field, we've had this since we were fairly young," dagdag niya.
"Something my dad always told me growing up is don't be afraid to dream big and you go after it," sabi ni Cielo. —LBG, GMA News
