Pinaalalahanan ng Philippine diplomat sa Washington ang mga Pinoy sa Amerika tungkol sa social media posts na nagkukunwaring taga-embahada at nanghihingi ng pera at personal information kapalit umano ng cash prize.

Nagpapakila umano ang mga manloloko na awtorisado sila ng US at Philippine law enforcement agencies, kabilang ang Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) at National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).

"It has come to the attention of the Philippine Embassy in Washington D.C. that a scam is being perpetrated by certain individuals or groups who claim to be associated with the embassy and offer monetary prizes to random persons through social media channels and chat groups," ayon sa embahada.

Ayon pa sa embahada, sinasabi umano ang mga manloloko sa kanilang binibiktima na nanalo sila ng cash prizes na isponsor ng embahada na konektado sa programa ng Pilipinas na tulungan ang mga mahihirap na pamilya na naapektuhan ng COVID-19 pandemic.

"The public is strongly advised to exercise vigilance and mindfulness if contacted by the scammers. Do not give them your personal information or money," paalala pa ng embahada.

Ayon sa embahada, hindi sila kailanman manghihingi ng pera at personal at bank information.
