Isang opisyal ng Philippine National Police-Internal Affairs Service, ang sangay na nagsisiyasat sa mga inirereklamong pulis, ang namatay matapos barilin ng mga hindi pa nakilalang salarin nitong Huwebes ng hapon sa Barangay Kamputhaw sa Cebu City.
Ayon kay Central Visayas Police Director Brigadier General Val de Leon, namatay si Lieutenant Colonel Joie Yapa dahil sa tama ng bala sa ulo matapos matapos siyang barilin ng mga salaring nakasakay sa motorsiklo dakong 5:35 ng hapon.
Idineklarang dead on arrival sa ospital si Yape, na nakatalaga PNP-IAS sa Camp Crame.
“The victim, while walking together with his wife along the said place, one of the suspects shot the victim. The suspects sped off towards Lahug area,” pahayag ni Deputy Regional Director for Operations Colonel Geovanie Maines.
Inaalam pa ng mga awtoridad ang motibo ng krimen at ang pagkakakilanlan ng mga salarin.
