Unilever Philippines and the PPHA Double Down on Better Hygiene for All

As the Philippines continues to weather the pandemic, Filipinos still face the most pressing problem in the new normal: the lack of access to affordable hygiene and sanitation products and services, as well as the challenge to consistently practice proper hygiene habits across households, communities, and places of work.

When health and cleanliness become the ultimate defense, proper hygiene must become second nature to any Filipino.

Now more than ever, there’s a need to start and embed consistent hygiene habits that can help people protect themselves and their loved ones from the threat of the pandemic. As such, Unilever Philippines

, with its commitment to serve and protect Filipino households, has entered a partnership with the Philippine Public Health Association (PPHA) to advocate for consistent education on proper hygiene practices and affordable hygiene products for all.
As an organization that seeks to improve the standard and delivery of public health services, as well as create solutions to address public health problems in the Philippines, the PPHA emphasizes their role in educating Filipinos on correct sanitation and hygiene practices:

“The pandemic continues, and so must our vigilance and ability to protect ourselves and loved ones. Through the support of Unilever and its trusted brands such as Lifebuoy, Domex, Breeze, Surf, and Closeup, this education drive can help remind everyone of necessary hygiene habits, while following all health precautions. Since 1964, the Philippine Public Health Association has continued to serve the Filipino people, and we look forward to continuing this legacy of service with Unilever,” shares PPHA President Maria Luisa Orezca, concurrently the director of the Philippine National AIDS Council.

Through the HYGIENE 101 Campaign – a joint effort with the Philippine Public Health Association, Unilever Philippines hopes to make hygiene more accessible and affordable to Filipino families across the country.

Building proper hygiene habits is more than just about washing hands. It should be a holistic approach, incorporating both personal and household sanitation. “Unilever is proud to show its commitment to improving and protecting the lives of our stakeholders through the Hygiene 101 campaign. We firmly believe that the fight to end this pandemic starts within ourselves and our communities – starting with practicing proper hygiene anytime, anywhere,” says Bea Joson, Brand Manager for Lifebuoy Philippines

Unilever, being home to some of the most well-known and well-loved hygiene brands, will put Lifebuoy, Closeup, Domex, Breeze, and Surf at the forefront of its efforts to bringing both personal and household hygiene habits closer to Filipinos.

At the heart of HYGIENE 101 is a digital- and influencer-led information drive, which will equip Filipinos around the nation with 101 hygiene practices to live by. These 101 tips will provide you with everything you need to know about the right hygiene habits to practice – from how much the proper way to wash your hands, how to ensure germ-free surfaces, and even the right way to keep yourself bacteria-free after coming home from outdoors! Select PPHA hospitals will also host these tips for visitors to learn and practice, tip by tip.

At the heart of this information campaign is the HYGIENE 101 HUB, Unilever’s first ever digital repository of 101 hygiene practices to live by. After equipping Filipinos with these habits, it’s time to put your hygiene smarts to the test through the HYGIENE 101 DAILY CHALLENGE – a daily series of hygiene challenges for everyone to take part in, with exclusive Unilever hygiene kits and vouchers up for grabs for those who prove that proper hygiene is already second nature to them. Through these initiatives, Unilever and the PPHA hope to reach and help protect 20M Filipino Families through this health and hygiene campaign.

As part of Unilever’s “Malasakit for All” Program, Unilever Philippines has also partnered with the Philippine Red Cross to donate 5,000 hygiene kits to partner PRC communities. Through these initiatives, the PPHA and Unilever Philippines hope to upgrade the standard of hygiene and sanitation in the Philippines, to better serve and protect Filipino families.

Unilever Vice President for Marketing Dorothy Dee-Ching envisions that, “Hygiene 101 with the PPHA is another way for us fulfill our goal to make hygiene habits commonplace and accessible to all Filipinos.
