PNP busts 50 shabu traders in wet market


Elements of the PNP Anti-illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Force (AIDSOTF) on Friday arrested fifty suspected drug traders during a raid at a “wet market" for methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu in Pasig City. Police Director Marcelo Ele, AIDSOTF chief, said they are still accounting the quantity and value of the illegal drugs seized from the shanties located in barangay Sto. Tomas. The raiding team swooped down on the alleged drug haven at 11:30 a.m. “This is a talipapa [wet market] for shabu. This is where the buyers go," Ele said, adding that the 50 “stall owners" who were arrested in the raid were brought to the AIDSOTF office in Camp Crame. PNP chief Director General Arturo Lomibao is expected to inspect the site of the latest accomplishment of AIDSOTF. The operation is actually the first major feat of the task force this year. Last year, billions of pesos worth of illegal drugs have been seized by the task force in the government’s continuing fight against illegal substances. A number of cases have also been filed by the task force in several courts as a result.-GMANEWS.TV
