A quick survey of the past week's most-viewed music videos on Youtube Philippines shows that the charm of boy bands to young audiences has not worn off. Of the top six music videos, only British boy band One Direction's "One Thing" has actually been released this year. The other five first saw release in the past year, owing their recent popularity to the viewing public's interest following events surrounding the artist and the songs.

1) The boy band craze among young Filipina teens is very much alive, with British boy band One Direction's hit single "What Makes You Beautiful" topping this week's most-viewed music videos on Youtube Philippines. The pop tune recently won the Best British Single Award at the 2012 BRIT Awards and now has a total of over 64 million views since its first release in August last year.

2) "Hari ng Tondo", Filipino rapper Gloc-9's contribution to the soundtrack of MMFF 2011's big winner Manila Kingpin: The Asiong Salonga Story, recently climbed up the charts as a parody of the music video amused and gained popularity among Pinoy viewers.

3) One Direction are sending girls swooning with their latest hit "One Thing". With two entries in this week's Youtube charts, it sure seems like the five-member band is reaping the benefits of having a young, internet-savvy fan base.

4) Avril Lavigne's "Wish You Were Here", a song off her latest album Goodbye Lullaby, takes the fourth spot following her concert in the SMART-Araneta Colisuem last February 16.

5) Charice Pempengco's 2011 single "Louder" crept up the charts shortly after the announcement of her seven-country concert tour in Asia for her sophomore album Infinity. The tour kicked off in Dubai on March 2.

6) Finally, the music video for the ballad "Someone Like You" by UK sensation Adele was revisited by old fans and attracted the attention of new ones as she took the 54th Grammys by storm, winning all six categories she was nominated in including Best Pop Solo Performance for this song.
