MMDA cracks down on offensive comments in social media

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Tuesday said it is cracking down on netizens posting offensive comments on its social networking accounts.
 
On its Twitter account, the MMDA said its administrator reserves the right to block people who post messages with vulgar or offensive content.
 
"In furtherance of decency and rightful behavior, the MMDA Twitter and Facebook Account Administrator (reserves) the right to block the person (who posts such comments)," it said.
 
Netizens face being blocked if they post messages that contain:
 
  • vulgar language
  • personal attacks of any kind
  • offensive comments that target or disparage any ethnic, racial, or religious group.
 
Also, the MMDA said its social networking administrator reserves the right to delete comments or replies that are:
 
  • clearly off topic
  • advocate illegal activity
  • promote particular business services or products
  • infringe on copyrights or trademarks
 
As of Tuesday, the MMDA Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/MMDAPH) had over 23,000 likes and over 1,700 people talking about it.
 
On the other hand, its Twitter account (https://twitter.com/MMDA) has 252,547 followers. — TJD, GMA News
