Be wary of dubious acceptance emails, advance payment requirements, and dubious spelling or grammar in job offers.

These were the tips the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) gave to jobseekers looking for work, via the agency's Facebook account.

"Don't bother replying, ignore it!" the POEA advised recipients of emails with such characteristics.

The POEA said a job offer is likely a scam if:

  • You received an acceptance email for a job you did not apply for
  • The salary and other benefits are too good to be true
  • The email ad used has nothing to do with the real company
  • Many grammar and spelling mistakes in the email

Also, the POEA advised jobseekers to be wary if they are asked to attend a training or seminar, and/or asked to pay in advance through courier service. — TJD, GMA News
