Pinoy graphic artist crafts font inspired by jeepney signs

You can almost hear the barkers calling.

A font that mimics the painstakingly hand-painted signs typically displayed on the windshields of jeepneys and other public utility vehicles in the Philippines is making the rounds online.

Filipino graphic designer Aaron Amar crafted "Quiapo Free", to the delight of many online.

In his Behance page, Amar said that the typeface is "dedicated to the Filipino Sign makers, Jeepney drivers, and the daily commuters in the streets of Metro Manila and anywhere in the Philippines."

"Quiapo Free" is, as the name suggests, free. Nonetheless, users are encouraged to donate to the artist. 

It's not the first time an artist created a font based on jeepney signage.

In 2010, artist Sean Trowbridge created the "Jeepney Brush" font, which he described as "a brush script font with a truly unique Philippine aesthetic." — Jessica Bartolome / AT, GMA News
