Pinay flight attendant breastfeeds a stranger’s infant inflight

Patrisha Organo is a 24-year-old flight attendant who did quite a heroic thing: On an early morning Philippine Airlines Express domestic flight on Tuesday, November 6, she breastfed a passenger’s infant baby.

On Facebook Wednesday, the breastfeeding advocate related how she heard an infant’s cry just a little after takeoff. It was “a cry that will make you want to do anything to help,” she said.

By then, passengers had started giving the mother and the wailing baby the disgruntled look.

She asked the mom if everything was okay, and teary-eyed, the mom said she had ran out of formula milk.

There was no formula milk on board, but having just given birth 9 months earlier, Patrisha knew she had the solution. “I thought to myself there’s only one thing I could offer and that’s my own milk. So I offered,” Patrisha said.

Assisted by another flight attendant, Patrisha led the mom to the aircraft’s gallery, where she breastfed the baby. “The baby started rooting, she was so hungry,” Patrisha continued, adding she fed the baby girl until she fell asleep in her arms.

Speaking to GMA News Online, Patrisha said the mom had been at the airport as early as 9pm on Monday night. Their flight was scheduled to depart a little after 5am on Tuesday morning, which probably explains why the mom ran out of her formula milk baon.

“I hope to be able to inspire others through my story,” the breastfeeding advocate told us.

Well, you certainly did, ma'am — and not only with breastfeeding but with kindness, too.
