Senior high students belt out Chicago hit, go viral online

A video of these senior high school students from Cotabato City went viral online after they sang a classic hit with gusto and on point.

According to RTV One Mindanao's Real Sorroche on “24 Oras”, students of Makilala Institute of Science and Technology drew attention with their rendition of the 1984 Chicago hit “You're the Inspiration”.

The students were identified as Fred Carl Sales, Jemrel Martin, John Gonzaga, Mc Lester and Jerome Yabut.

But while they made singing look easy, life had been hard for these students.

Martin, the group's lead vocalist, had to stop going to school for a while after losing his father.

His two other group mates, for their part, are being raised by single mothers and are working on side jobs to help their single parent.

School administrators welcomed the attention that the group generated online, saying it is a privilege for their students to be given a platform to showcase their talent. —Llanesca T. Panti/NB, GMA News
