Heart Evangelista dismayed by internet hate

Heart Evangelista gave up on the internet (or at least Twitter) after being bashed by critics online.

The Kapuso actress and style icon had posted a tweet to saluting Cynthia Esperitu, a one-legged bone cancer patient, who was forced to walk all the way from Masinag, Antipolo to a government checkpoint along Marcos Highway in crutches just to get to the Philippine General Hospital.

“Dearest Cynthia, thank you for inspiring others to smile and stay positive .. God bless you and your friend :)” she wrote, retweeting the news report from GMA News Online.

However, her post did not sit well with some netizens.

“Hindi po nakaka-inspire ‘to,” one replied.

Heart had to clarify herself in another tweet, saying, “I’m saying so many people are complaining at home hile here is Cynthia still trying to be positive.”

She added, “Guys, stop hating. Ang sama na ng mga nangyayari. Let’s try to lift each other.”

Heart had to ask netizens to “stop the hate” more than once.

“I’m not happy about this! I’m saying she is still smiling and trying to be positive. Guysssssssssss (crying emoji) Stop this…Lift each other and help! Not hate!” she said.

Heart eventually opted out of a brewing Twitter war over her well-meaning post.

“Ayoko na, Twitter. Kayo kayo na lang magaway. Tumulong na lang tayong lahat. Being toxic will not help. Good bye na lang. Di ko na kaya,” she tweeted.

‘Pet peeve’

Heart is known for keeping her cool when dealing with negativity on social media, but she recently spoke up about some individuals who can’t seem to look past her social status.

In her Instagram stories, Heart answered a netizen who asked her about her “pet peeves.”

Heart responded by sharing a screencap of a tweet that said: “Heart Evangelista is such a darling but she’ll be first in line when we start to guillotine the rich.”

"People like that,” Heart wrote.

The actress expressed her amazement over such critics, and how some even wished for her death.

“You really think a perfect life exists? You really think I don't have problems so bad (that) I can't function? I've been working so so hard for 23 years and I can't be happy for myself and actually share my blessings? You seriously want to kill me?" she asked.

Still, Heart encouraged everybody to “stop hating” and “start loving one another.”

“People wake up. Pray... pls pray we should all be helping each other and that doesn't mean posting it on social media. Help cause that's what God wants. Stop hating. Start loving one another. Start making a difference. Small or big,” she wrote.

"Try harder to be better and the universe will work towards giving you more happiness,” she added.
