DLSU just opened up its campus as temporary shelter for the homeless

Among the most affected in the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine that the government upheld to contain the deadly coronavirus are the daily wagers and the homeless.

Luckily, there are institutions like De La Salle University that opened their doors to serve as temporary shelter for the homeless.

On Facebook, the university on Taft Avenue shared that “61 individuals, among them women and elderly are currently staying at the 2nd floor of the Enrique Razon Sports Centre until the Luzon-wide lockdown is lifted.”

It added that the initiative was done in partnership with the Main, Ligo NG ayos (KALINGA) Program of the Divine Word Missionaries (SVD).

While SVD volunteers are looking after the basic needs of those who are taking shelter in the campus, DLSU also called on the generosity of the public to help sustain the initiative by donating cash to buy food, medicines, and health kits.

Donations can be be done through:
AJ Kalinga Foundation, Inc
Asia United Bank
AUB Peso Savings Account: 082-11-000496-2

DLSU requests for donors to email their deposit slips to lasallianmision@dlsu.edu.ph for proper documentation.
