After revealing leukemia bout, YouTuber Emman Nimedez gets massive support from fans

Prayers and well wishes came pouring in for Emman Nimedez, after the YouTuber shocked everybody by admitting he was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia.

Netizens, including celebrity cosplayer Alodia Gosiengfiao who got to spend time with Emman, sent prayers to their self-styled “Pambansang Oppa,” urging him to keep fighting and get better, which sent Emman straight to the top of Philippine Twitter trends.

“(Emman) You got this! Kaya mo ito! We are all behind you!!” Alodia wrote in an Instagram post.

Emman Nimedez is a recipient of a Gold Play Button, which is only presented to creators with 1 million subscribers.

Videos on his channel EmmanNimedezTV include original music videos, hilarious parodies, and other feel-good content.

In his vlog titled “Kailangan Niyo Na Rin Malaman” uploaded last May 17 (Sunday), Nimedez revealed that was admitted to the hospital for a fever thinking he had the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

"Siyempre noong una akala namin COVID siya, pero hindi eh. Iba 'yong pinangagalingan noong lagnat. So hinanap nila and na-track nila nasa bone marrow siya," he said.

"Noong kinuhaan ng samples 'yong bone marrow ko, lumabas sa results may acute myeloid leukemia. Mayroon akong cancer," Emman said.

Emman also sent his love to his subscribers, saying they spent too much time together for him not to include them on the bumpy journey ahead.

“Ito na siguro yung pinaka-malaking hamon na binigay sakin ng nasa itaas. Mahaba-habang pakikipagtalo sa sarili bago ko tuluyang mai-post 'tong video na to. Pero sa napagtanto ko, kailangan niyo rin talaga 'to malaman,” the vlogger wrote in the video description.

“Masyado nang malayo yung pinagsamahan natin para hindi ko kayo isama sa byahe na ito. Medyo malubak lang at matarik kumpara sa mga naunang byahe. Pero kapit lang. Makakatawid tayo.” — Margaret Claire Layug/LA, GMA News
