GMA News reporter Saleema Refran details experience of COVID-19 scare in a video

GMA News reporter Saleema Refran shared her personal experience on her COVID-19 scare in a video she uploaded on Facebook Tuesday.

This is as close as a lot of us can get to the strange new world of hospitals in the time of COVID-19: the plastic dividers between healthcare workers and patients, the the PPEs that frontliners need to wear thereby lessening the human factor of all contacts, the swab tests, the x-rays, waiting in tents, and all.

Because most of the footage comes from Saleema's point of view, it all feels very mundane but also, very real.

You feel her boredom as she stares at the clock, you feel her anxiety, as you hear what she hears — the sound of a patient getting discharged — and you feel a range of emotions as she pairs the footage of her hospital door with the words, "nakakabaliw maghintay ng resulta. Matinding takot at kaba. Lahat, iniisip. Hindi makatulog."

In the caption of her post, the GMA News reporter said, "I originally just wanted to capture the experience of getting tested. Confident pa ako noon na asthma lang yung nararamdaman ko. It turned out to be pneumonia."

She thanked her doctors, her family, and her friends who helped her along the way.

On Monday, Saleema gave everybody a double dose of good news, sharing that she's tested negative for the virus and has recovered from pneumonia.

In covering the Quezon City beat throughout the COVID-19 threat, Saleema also gave us a closer look on the precautionary measures she and her team took to ensure their safety. — LA, GMA News
