Willie Revillame helps tenant whose roof was removed by landlady

"Wowowin" host Willie Revillame extended financial assistance to two Caloocan City tenants who could not afford to pay their rent amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

According to Sandra Aguinaldo's report on "24 Oras," Revillame found out about their situation when the story aired on "24 Oras Weekend" on Sunday.

One of the tenants was a pregnant woman, whose belongings were damaged by the rain after the landlady ordered the removal of the home’s roof and door. A neighbor captured the incident on video.

Another tenant of the same landlady nearly suffered the same experience after not being able to pay rent.

Sa sitwasyon na ito, wala ho, wala talagang pera eh, walang trabaho," Revillame said during a "Wowowin" episode.

The host called the uploader and the two tenants, Princess Remureran and Glenda Malvas, during his "Tutok to Win" segment and offered to pay their rent for six months. He also said he will give them relief packs.

"Kinuwenta ko na. 'Yong P2,500 sa six months ay P15,000. Plus bibigyan ko kayo ng tig P10,000 so padadalhan namin kayo tigalawang sakong bigas," he said.

Aside from the two tenants, Revillame also gave P20,000 to the uploader of the video.

The two tenants thanked the host for helping them in their time of need.

—Ma. Angelica Garcia/MGP, GMA News
