Man rides old bike from Manila to Cavite for 3 hours to deliver package for Php250

Jeffrey Sioson went viral for riding his old bicycle from Binondo, Manila, to Cavite to deliver a package on Monday.

Customer Michael Jamandre shared about how he met Jeffrey in Mark Salazar’s “24 Oras” report Tuesday.

Naka-bike ka lang?’” said Michael, who said he didn’t know at first that Jeffrey just rode a bike to deliver packages.

Jeffrey travelled 34 kilometers to deliver the package and receive a fee of Php250. According to the delivery rider, that amount is enough for him and his nine cats.

He bought his bike from a junk shop after he lost his job due to the end of his contract. The assembled bike had old wheels, improvised brakes, and a makeshift basket using an old plastic crate.

Jeffrey, who had traveled 115 km from Tondo to Nasugbu, Batangas, to deliver a parcel, said he once got into an accident because his bike’s pedals were broken.

After Michael’s post about Jeffrey went viral, someone gave the delivery rider a brand new bike.

“Ginamit po siya (Michael) ng Panginoon para mabigyan ako ng ganitong biyaya,” he said.

Jeffrey, however, said he would still use his old bike from time to time because he had special memories with it. – Franchesca Viernes/RC, GMA News
