Philippine art to be showcased at Hong Kong International Art Fair

Philippine art will be among those showcased at an upcoming international art fair in Hong Kong, the Philippine Consulate General there said Monday.
 
Artists Alfredo and Isabel Aquilizan, Roderico Jose Daroy, Roberto Feleo, and Jose Legaspi, all represented by The Drawing Room, an art gallery in Manila, will have their works shown at the Hong Kong International Art Fair or Art HK 12 to be held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center in Wan Chai on May 17 to 20.
 
Aside from The Drawing Room, two other art galleries from the Philippines will join Art HK 12 this year: the Silverlens Gallery (Makati City), and Art Informal (Mandaluyong City). 
 
Filipino artist Rodel Tapaya will also have a solo exhibition at the Asia One section, which features the latest developments in contemporary art from across Asia.

Art HK 12 will feature hundreds of artworks from leading contemporary and modern art galleries in both Asia and the rest of the world.
 
This year, 266 galleries from 38 countries are participating in the fair dubbed as the leading international modern and contemporary art fair in Asia. 
 
The participating galleries are from Hong Kong, Taiwan, India, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Australia, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates, among others.
 
The fair has been known to encourage broad cross-cultural exchange, and feature both Asian and Western art equally.
 
"The Drawing Room is a regular participant and exhibitor in art fairs and international events in different parts of the world," the Consulate General said.

Students, senior citizens, and people with disabilities may avail of discounted tickets at HK$125 upon presentation of valid ID. –KG, GMA News
