Miss World Philippines 2015 style inspired by old Hollywood glamour

Aside from being a showcase of beauty and intelligence, beauty pageants have also been venues for stylists and designers to display their creativity.

The coronation night of Miss World Philippines 2015 saw gowns that were distinctly Filipino with an overall style inspired by old Hollywood glamour.

Contrary to the extravagance that has always been attributed to beauty pageants, the 26 candidates of Miss World Philippines walked the stage in simple gowns made of lace or satin, combining neutral colors such as black, red, white, champagne, and gold.

Pearl and diamond accessories were used to complement the candidates' overall look.

Charmaine Palermo, one of the pageant's stylists, said, “We incorporated colors such as gold, champagne, and white to echo the old Hollywood glamour and bring out the candidates' natural beauty.”

“The style was based not only on the physique, body type, and the color of their skin, but also their personality,” she added.

Among the designers of the gowns worn by the candidates are Pepsi Herrera, Edwin Tan, Francis Libiran, Banggo Niu, Lian Martin, Sheiralyn So-Lim, Mark Bessie Besana, Desiño Dulce, Cherry Veruc, Val Taguba, Nat Manilag, Eric Delos Santos, Ritchie Bondo, Edwin Uy, Jun Lee, John Paras, Kaye Morales, and Rhett Eala.

“The overall style for the candidates is toned down and cosmopolitan. We incorporated different designs to come up with a modern, sartorial, and sleek look,” said Adrianne Concepcion, another one of the pageant's stylist.
