Admission to National Museum now ‘permanently free’ to all

The National Museum will no longer charge an admission fee to anyone, Filipino or foreign, wishing to visit any of its museums nationwide.

In a post on its Facebook account Thursday evening, the museum said that effective Friday, July 1, 2016, it will no longer charge admission fees "in order to build upon significant spikes in viewership, especially among younger Filipinos" that were observed whenever general admission was made free of charge, such as during National Arts Month in February, National Heritage Month in May, and National Museums and Galleries Month in October.

The National Museum Complex in Rizal Park in Manila consists of the the National Art Gallery, the National Museum of Anthropology, and the National Museum of Natural History. The National Planetarium is also managed by the museum. In addition to these, the National Museum has 19 regional, branch and site museums throughout the Philippines.

The National Museum is open Tuesdays to Sundays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. — BM, GMA News
