The thunderous applause that "Liway" received is blessing enough for Kapuso star Glaiza De Castro and the team behind the based-on-real-events film, but the movie keeps on giving. This time, it's the audience who will receive a present in the form of an extra screening.

The official Cinemalaya page on Friday announced that "Liway" along with "ML" are the festival's top grossing films. Given the high demand for tickets, both films received an additional slot on Sunday.

The public can catch"Liway" August 12, 3:30 pm at the CCP Little Theater. "ML" has an earlier screening, 12:45pm, in the same theater.

"Liway" is based on the relationship between Director Dakip "Kip" Oebanda and his mother Commander Liway, born Cecilia Flores-Oebanda. As a young boy, the director lived in a prison camp and his mother entertained him with stories of a diwata fighting the Marcos dictatorship.

In a Balitanghali report on Thursday, Glaiza said that she is thankful for the opportunity to step into Commander Liway's shoes.

"Sobrang saya ko ngayon. Natutuwa ako na ang mga tao, na-appreciate ang pelikula," Glaiza said.
