National Artist for Architecture Francisco ‘Bobby’ Mañosa has passed away at age 88

Francisco “Bobby” Mañosa, who last year was named National Artist for Architecture, has passed away Wednesday afternoon. He was 88.

His son, architect Gelo Mañosa, announced the sad news on Facebook.

“It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of (our founder) Architect Francisco ‘Bobby’ Mañosa at the age of 88,” wrote Katrina, Gelo’s wife, also on Facebook.

Bobby Mañosa upheld, advocated, and promoted Filipino architecture in his entire 40-year practice.

According to Katrina, the wake will be held at the Heritage Memorial Park, Chapels 2-4 starting Thursday, February 21 at 5pm. He will be laid to rest in a state funeral at the Libingan ng mga Bayani on Sunday, February 24.
