This artist's paintings are inspired by her sister with down syndrome

Every child deserves a normal life, but we live in a harsh reality where many disabled kids are shunned by society.

Breathtaking illustrations by Maribel Magpoc are like doorways to a world where people with down syndrome enjoy mundane lives.

The Filipino visual artist was inspired by her sister, Mariel, who was diagnosed with down syndrome.

In her paintings, Mariel is seen travelling the world, going to school, riding the train, going shopping, taking a selfie and even joining the Traslacion.

According to a report on State of the Nation with Jessica Soho, Magpoc wanted to show people that her sister's disability does not stop her sister from living a normal life.

Now, Magpoc's beautiful expressions of love for her sister are now being celebrated in different galleries and exhibits. — Margaret Claire Layug/LA, GMA News
