Animals' heartbreaking fate as they were caught inside Taal Volcano’s danger zone

Animals such as birds and goats suffered a heartbreaking fate as they were found within Taal Volcano's danger zone, injured and worse, lifeless.

GMA News reporter Chino Gaston's Facebook post Wednesday showed animals covered in ashes and mud ever since the volcano's phreatic eruption on Sunday.

In Gaston's report on Balitanghali Wednesday, some of the birds, mostly waterfowls who lived near the lake, were unable to fly because heavy ashes already covered their bodies.

Two of the residents went back to Batangas just to save their goat, which was stuck underneath a fallen building.

Hundreds of fishes were also found dead floating in the lake after they escaped their fish cages and got poisoned with the sulfur from the volcano.

Taal Volcano's activity is still at alert level 4 with the possibility of a hazardous eruption anytime soon. — Kaela Malig/LA, GMA News
