Hit anime film 'Weathering With You' to be screened in Manila for Japan Film Week

Hit anime film "Weathering With You" will be screened in the Philippines again this year for the Japan Film Week.

Created by acclaimed director Makoto Shinkai, the movie was his much anticipated followup to the blockbuster "Your Name" released in 2016.

"Weathering With You" was screened in Philippine theaters last year. The story revolves around a boy who meets a girl with the power to control the weather.

Shinkai's other works include "5 centimeters per second" and "The Garden of Words." He is known for his stunning visuals and exploring the themes of young love.

Cinematheque Centre Manila released the screening schedule on their Facebook page. Schedules for Davao and Iloilo are posted on the FDCP website

. The screenings are free and will have English subtitles.

The Japan Film Week is organized by the Film Development Council of the Philippines in partnership with the Japan Foundation, Manila.

Six other films will be screened nationwide starting January and will continue until March. These are "Life Goes On," "The Tears of Malumpati," "Dad's Lunchbox," "Fireworks," "Okko's Inn," and "Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms." —MGP, GMA News
