Inside ALT Philippines, an exciting new platform that wants to 'reframe' your art show experience

Here's something else for the Valentine's weekend:

The works of over 150 contemporary artists are being presented by ALT Philippines, a collaboration of 10 galleries seeking to "reframe the art show."

GMA News Online was able to experience the collective's pioneer collaborative project in a special viewing, and here are just a few things you need to see.

Art lovers who visit ALT Philippines don't just walk around and examine pieces from a distance.

The show's "exploratory" set-up allows a unique, immersive experience. Vinyl on Vinyl, for example, surrounds the casual observer with an enjoyable mix of walk-in displays and audiovisual surprises.

The art space also gives galleries and artists the freedom to satisfy curiosities, helping their visitors take in the inspiration and process, as well as appreciate patriotic and sustainable aspects of the works.

ALT Philippines' “Creative Collective" includes Galleria Duemila, 1335Mabini, Underground, Artinformal, Blanc, The Drawing Room, Finale Art File, MO Space, Vinyl on Vinyl and West Gallery.

Everyone will eventually end up at the far-end of the gallery and walk by a large cluster of assorted masterpieces, done by different hands and sourced from different galleries.

This is the "ALT for Taal" section, ALT Philippines' press relations manager Stephanie Frondoso explains.

"Proceeds (from ticket sales) are going to St. John Nepomuceno Parish, which put up an evacuation center which has 6,000 people or more already. And aside from the ticket sales  — we call this area the ledge  — everything here, the cut of the gallery, goes to the same, the Taal evacuees."

ALT Philippines 2020 runs from February 14 to 16, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at SMX Convention Center, SM Aura Premier.

You can get your tickets through SM Tickets or at the venue's ticket booth. For more information, visit ALT Philippines’ website.
