Art gallery in Pasig sells artworks of Wipo, Jem Magbanua and others to help COVID-19 research


An art gallery in Pasig is now selling artworks of Wipo, Jem Magbanua and other notable artists to raise funds for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) research.

On Instagram, Friday, Space Encounters Gallery opened the online exhibit and fundraising event "Art for Science."

 

 

 

With the help of its artists from previous exhibits, the gallery aims to donate 25% of the profit to the University of the Philippines Medical Foundation.

"Art and Science stand strong together to fight Coronavirus," it announced, "Artists of our past exhibits with available artworks have agreed to collaborate and will donate a portion of their sales, as well as the gallery's, in aid for a local scientific research facility for the fight against COVID-19."

 

 

 

Aside from Wipo and Magbanua, the online exhibit will also feature artworks of Mark "KDLT" Copino, Nonie Cruzado, Martkills and Rick Hernandez, among others.

Space Encounters Gallery assured the public that all artworks to be sold are "original, signed by artists and come with a Certificate of Authenticity."

Although human trials have been conducted for potential coronavirus vaccines, no known successful vaccine has been made available yet.

As of Tuesday, the Philippines has a total of 9,684 confirmed COVID-19 cases with over 1,408 recoveries and 637 deaths.
