GMA docus, Kapuso stars recognized at 5th Film Ambassadors Night

“Brigada” and “The Atom Araullo Specials” and three Kapuso stars have earned spots among this year’s 5th Film Ambassadors’ Night (FAN) awardees.

“Brigada: Aeta Squadron/Female Spies” was recognized for bagging the Bronze Award Documentary History & Society at the New York Festivals TV & Film Awards in the United States.

“We are very proud of this segment because not only does it highlight the heroism of Filipinos pero ipinapakita po natin dito ang kasaysayan ng Pilipinas at lalong-lalo na yung mayamang kultura ng ating mga katutubong Aeta,” host Kara David said in a video message.

“The Atom Araullo Specials: Babies4Sale.PH,” meanwhile, earned the Silver Award for the News Program: Best Investigative Report Category at the same awarding ceremony.

Kapuso actors Dingdong Dantes, Alden Richards and Lovi Poe have also been recognized for their exemplary work in the film industry.

Lovi won Best Actress for “Latay” at the International Film Festival in Manhattan. Alden and Dingdong, meanwhile, were recognized for being the Asian Star Prize recipients at the Seoul International Drama Awards.

Dingdong, along with Arjo Atayde, is also among the television awardees who made it to the FAN 2021 Actors list. The former is also one of the FAN 2021 Cinemadvocates, together with Angel Locsin.

FAN is an annual event spearheaded by the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) which recognizes Filipino filmmakers, actors and movies whose international victories have brought honor to the country.

Given the ongoing pandemic, this is the first time that FAN held the awarding online. See full list of winners here. — Franchesca Viernes/BM, GMA News
