Here are just five interesting things you need to know about the Mexican beauty queen, who was just crowned at the 69th Miss Universe pageant held May 17 in Hollywood, Florida.

1. She's from Chihuahua, Chihuahua

Andrea proudly hails from a Mexican city named Chihuahua. In fact, she currently serves as official tourism ambassador of the city, which is the state capital of the Mexican state of the same name.

2. She's a software engineer

Andrea is beauty and brains. Apart from being a model and beauty queen, the new Miss Universe titleholder also has a degree in software engineering.

3. She's only the 3rd Miss Universe from Mexico

It's "Viva Mexico!" for a third time! Andrea goes down in history as the third beauty queen from Mexico to win the Miss Universe crown.

Andrea follows the footsteps of Ximena Navarrete and Lupita Jones who won in 2010 and 1991, respectively.

4. She grew up in a huge family

In her introduction video for the 69th Miss Universe pageant, Andrea shared how she grew up in a "huge" family.

“I love having so many family members," she said. "I have, like 40 cousins, and I have two sisters [who] I love so much."

5. She fights for women's rights

As you've probably guessed from her powerful statements during the Top 5, Andrea is determined to use her platform to fight for women's rights.

"[Women's rights are] something that I truly care about," the Mexican beauty queen said in a video.

"It's one of the main reasons why I'm here in Miss Universe because I'm confident this is a huge platform that would allow me to talk about this, and let the world realize that this is a big issue, and I want these young girls to realize that and to fight for their rights," she added.
