British 'land artist' goes viral for mosaic pieces made of pebbles

British land artist Justin Bateman has been rocking the internet as several of his pieces went viral on social media.

According to a GMA News report, the Chiang Mai-based artist usually draws inspiration from portraits of famous personalities.

One of them is Apo Whang-Od, the Philippine traditional tattoo artist, which took him six days to complete at the request of his Filipino fans!

Justin, who some fans call as “Pebble Picasso,” started using the natural landscape as his canvass back in 2019 after a friend of his arranged rocks to replicate Mona Lisa.

His Mona Lisa artwork was uploaded online, becoming his ticket to fame.
Justin continues to post his art online, amassing more than 20,000 followers on Instagram. Staying true to his "pebbles are my pixels" mantra, he makes his art anywhere—from wastelands, forests, beaches, and the mountains.

Contrary to some art collectors’ desire to take home art pieces so they could appreciate them privately, only a few lucky ones would stumble upon Justin’s unsigned rock art in different parts of the world as a trail of his wanderlust.
