This passionate artists group will perform flash mob poetry at Art in the Park 2023

Interactive art, something that more and more people enjoy because it allows them to become part of the piece, is something guests can expect at this year's Art in the Park, care of Titik Poetry.

The art collective in Cavite and non-government organization, is set to bring interactive art in the form of flash mob poetry at Art in the Park happening next week.

According to Titik Poetry founder and CEO Verlin Santos, the group delves into flash mob poetry not just for entertainment but also for education.

And what keeps the group going are each of their own personal advocacies that they are able to share creatively through poetry.

“Nag-wo-workshop kami sa mga presinto,” Verlin told the media at the Art in the Park press launch in Makati City. “Nag-workshop kami para sa mga biktima ng giyera sa Marawi. Sa iba pang mga communities, sa mga farmers.”

“Hindi lang kami nag-pe-perform para sa mga kayang magbayad ng tickets.”

Verlin added that members each support their own causes, like mental health, the LGBTQIA+ community, and women empowerment.

Aside from these projects, the group has also delved into creating NFTs.

Running on passion, advocacy, and true talent, Titik Poetry will be performing solo pieces as well as a flash mob titled “Sigya,” which means “inspiration” in deep Tagalog.

“[Mag-]be-blend kami sa audience, tas isa isa kaming sumusulpot. Puro inspirational na verses, words of encouragement,” he teased.

“Tapos magti-tipon-tipon. Mamaya sa tabi mo may lumalabas na. So yung attention ng mga tao, bigla sila humihinto [at mag-iisip ng] ‘ano nangyayari?’ Tapos dun siya nagiging mas very engaging,” Verlin added.

The artist added that the group will be able to share the Art in the Park platform with the audience through this.

“'Di naman kami para sa entablado lang na yun eh, kasama namin yung audience na nag-pe-perform,” he said. “Yung appreciation nila is mahalagang bagay para sa amin.”

Art in the Park is happening on March 19 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Jaime Velasquez Park, more known as Salcedo Park in Makati City. Here's everything you need to know about it. — LA, GMA Integrated News
