"Nahirapan ba kayong hanapin ito?"

It was a few minutes after 10 a.m., and our heads were throbbing from the summer heat. But inside Benji Reyes' "Tahanan," it was "presko."

"Alam ninyo sa kotse, yung nagpapalamig sa makina, radiator. Yung water system ko dito, yun ang radiator ng bahay," he told us.

With small waterfalls and pond, there was indeed water everywhere around his home. But Benji Reyes, 54, is not remarkable for just a natural house-cooling system. He is an artist that can bring neglected wood back to life in a grand manner.

His home, "Tahanan," is living proof.

"I love it when young people visit," he told us. Architecture and fine arts students would sometimes drop by his Antipolo home, and he'd talk about how he and his wife started together with just P300.

He'd talk to you like a long-lost relative, referring to his wife, Carina, as "yung tita ninyo," and show you his collection of Iron Man armor in the master's bedroom.

In many ways, he's as cool as his Tahanan.

"Maayos ba buhok ko?" he quipped. He's bald. He's like a tito with a house you'd love to crash in. – KDM/HS, GMA News
