UP Concert Chorus takes the plunge, does the ice bucket challenge

The University of the Philippines' official choir, the UP Concert Chorus, cheerfully jumped on the ALS ice bucket challenge bandwagon after being nominated by the host families who took them in during their travels around the US, Europe, and Asia.

One of the members said in the video, “We accept the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge and we are also going to donate after doing this.”

The group shot the video immediately after performing at the Gawad Plaridel ceremony at the University of the Philippines College of Music, according to the press release.

Just before they got doused in icy water, the group nominated fellow choral groups the Philippine Madrigal Singers, UP Manila Chorale, UP Singing Ambassadors, and the UST Singers.

The ALS ice bucket challenge got its start on July 15, with just over 100 tweets. The challenge was to donate $100 to the ALS Association or dump a bucket of ice-cold water on your head. The trend exploded on social media, with everyone from world leaders to celebrities to Muppets taking up the challenge.
