Simple

This well-loved face UK care brand has enjoyed a stable market share in the Philippines since its launch late 2016. The brand offers a range of goods that gently hydrate while providing superior makeup removal and skin cleansing for women with sensitive skin.

Five of Simple’s globally patronized products are available locally:

  • Micellar Cleansing Water, a facial cleanser containing micelles, little cleansing agents that remove impurities while boosting skin hydration;
  • Micellar Cleansing Facial Wipes, which are tough yet soft;
  • Moisturizing Facial Wash;
  • Dual Effect Eye Make-Up Remover, which dissolves the toughest eye make-up and is formulated for contact lens wearers as well; and
  • Hydrating Light Moisturizer, which is blended with multi-vitamins, glycerin and borage seed oil, promising moisture for hours.

Author’s pick: I used the Simple Hydrating Light Moisturizer twice a day—morning and night—for two weeks and it lives up to its promise of doubling the skin’s hydration level. The moisturizer is light, odor-less, quick absorbing and non-sticky. Upon application, it takes the skin less than a minute to absorb the formulation without any greasy after feel or residue. It also blends well with other products such as sunscreen or make-up. After continued use, skin feels and looks bedewed.

Simple products are available at Watsons and select supermarkets. Prices start at P299.

Grace Cosmetics

A 100% owned and manufactured Australian brand, Grace Cosmetics only recently launched its products in the Philippines but has been around for 33 years. It credits its staying power to its use of high content certified organic aloe vera. Grace Cosmetics boasts of natural and botanical ingredients that provide lasting results. From skin care, eye care, sun care, make-up and even a juice drink, aloe vera is this brand’s thrust.

Author’s pick: Aloe Medicated Skin Cream soothes and relieves sun burn, rashes, bites, minor burns, cuts and other skin abrasions and irritations. I call it “sabila in a tube”, and just like we’re told and have probably tried once upon a time in our lives, aloe vera can cure. I had scars from a fall recently and instead of using my usual topical products, I tried this one. The cream does not sting, it has no medicinal odor, it is easy to apply and it cools the affected area.

Grace Cosmetics is a direct selling company.

Mesoestetic Crystal Cream Limited Edition

Housed in a luxurious, leather-look gift box, the Mesoestetic set includes crystal cream, crystal eye cream and an ionic stimulator to improve microcirculation. These three products work in synergy to offer you youthful skin that glows.

The Crystal Cream, a day and night cream with reparative properties, has a peptide complex that is supposed to ably combat wrinkle formation and reduce the appearance of fine lines. In addition, the rich cream keeps the face smooth, hydrated and protected from environmental aggressors.

The Crystal Eye Cream, specifically for the eyes, has an anti-aging formula designed to rewind visible signs of ageing. It is also formulated with a peptide complex that reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles to leave the eye area smooth and radiant.

The package comes with the Ionic Stimulator, a small gadget the size of a pocket flashlight that is supposed to help improve microcirculation, particularly around the eyes. It is battery-operated and is painless when used against the skin.

Author’s pick: Crystal Eye Cream used with the Ionic Stimulator. The odorless, non-sticky eye cream applied by hand to the eye area, then later on massaged with the gadget, immediately soothes tired eyes. It must be the aid of the apparatus that encourages this effect but using the eye cream sans the Ionic Stimulator also tightens the skin in that region. Compared to eye gels which this author currently uses, the eye cream is easier to administer and to apportion.

The Mesoestetic Crystal Cream Limited Edition set is priced at P12,000 and is available only at dermatologist clinics. — BM, GMA News
