Philippine Readers and Writers Festival opens on Friday, August 2


Now on its sixth year, the Philippine Readers and Writers Festival will officially open its doors on Friday, August 2 at the Raffles Makati.

Organized by National Bookstore, the three-day celebration of literature and culture will be having the theme, "Borderless: Bringing Stories from Asia to the World".

Author of the Pulitzer award-winning novel "The Sympathizer" Viet Thanh Nguyen, and Gina Apostol, author of "Gun Dealers' Daughter" which won the 2013 PEN/Open Book Award, will be having their discussions and book signing during the festival.

Aside from them, authors and artists such as the award-winning author Butch Dalisay, screenwriter Ricky Lee, historian Ambeth Ocampo, author Jeremy Tankard, Filipino children's book author Gail Villanueva, and parenting expert Queena Lee Chua, among others will be joining the event.

The festival will have its line up of activities from book signing to different sets of talks as well as a long list of local and imported books on sale with exclusive discounts.

Registration starts at 9 a.m. everyday and admission is free.
