Bb. Pilipinas Globe 2019 Leren Bautista en route to Montenegro to compete in Ms. Globe

And the first Binibini is off to compete!

Bb. Pilipinas Globe 2019 Leren Mae Bautista is en route to Montenegro, where the Ms. Globe beauty pageant is set to take place from this month.

On Instagram, the Bb. Pilipinas account posted a photo of Leren checking into her flight, looking every inch a queen in a tube top made from Philippine textile that she paired with tight blue jeans. She proudly wore her sash of course.

At the recent launch of Araneta City, Leren told GMA News Online of her plans to parade the rich textile tradition of the Philippines all through the Miss Globe competition.

“I’m so excited to showcase our Philippine fabrics during the pageant,” she said, adding she’ll also be wearing a few creations by Renee Salud, with whom she’s been promoting indigenous Philippine fabrics around the world for the past two years. “So I’m really excited to showcase them in Europe.”

In fact, she began her mission to promote Philippine fabrics at the launch where she wore a beautiful Filipiniana top made with Pidayit cloth from Pampanga.

“Pidayit means ‘to put together’ or ‘to unite’ in Kapampangan. It’s from a community project in Angeles, in Pampanga created by women weavers,” she said, adding designer Philip D. Torres is the man behind the textile.
